The Islip Public Library hosts a wide variety of programs, special events, services and e-resources for children of all ages – from infants to 'tweens.

If your child needs help with homework or wants to enjoy a new book, or if you are looking for a great program for him or her to attend, this is the place to find it all!

Summer Reading Club

Registration for our children's summer reading club, Every Hero has a Story, has begun. Register online or in the Children's Department at the Library.

Completed K – 6th graders who have commented on two books, and infants – preschool-aged children who have logged 20 books by 4:00 pm on Friday, July 31 will be invited to our Heroes' Party that evening!

Prizes will be awarded between June 29 and August 15 for commenting on books online or at the Library. Please note: the last day to register is Saturday, August 8.

Ice cream is more than a sweet indulgence — it has nutritional value and an interesting history. During the workshop, you will learn to make ice cream the old-fashioned way — by hand cranking! You will also sample the fruits of your labor.

Superhero Cupcakes

Make color fondant and then create three superhero characters on cupcakes. Take home three fully decorated cupcakes in a bakery box. Cooks' hats, aprons, and disposable gloves included.
